Dan Varela returned with his students in the Spring 2018 to work on the theme “Communication with their Classroom community.” The students worked collaboratively in the greenhouse with the goats building an obstacle course and leading the goats through it. The students did an amazing job working together and Mr. Varela referred to the collective experience for the students and staff as “Transformational!”
Fall 2017 : Our visit to the AVALON - Healing Arts Farm and Barn Studio was an incredible experience for my students and I. Barbara’ skills of facilitation are truly masterful and the Team at AVALON assisted in guiding my students through this amazing experience with equal expertise and knowledge. My students’ attention was captivated as they met with and learned to care for the magnificent animals of this small working farm. As we walked the path that skirts the tree line and traverses the hillside of this beautiful property, my students were completely engaged in exploration and curiosity. For many, a highlight was meandering along the rows of ripe raspberries and eating the berries right off the bush. I have known Barbara for many years as a teacher, mentor and friend. The passion and enthusiasm that she puts into her work is remarkable and her enduring positive spirit and energy is contagious. I know that our group will return to AVALON – Healing Arts Farm and Barn Studio and it is my hope that many other groups will have the opportunity to benefit from this wonderful facility, as we have.
